Cumbria one day H&S Courses

HEALTH & SAFETY AWARENESS TRAINING COURSE

The last such course was held on Friday 4th July 2008

Venue: Swallow Hilltop Hotel London Road, Carlisle, CA1 2NS

These courses are free to NUT members, non-NUT members £50 . Courses are designed to make school staff more aware of the health and safety issues in schools and are ideal training for NUT school representatives, health & safety representatives, members wishing to become union appointed health & safety representatives or senior staff wishing to find out more about health & safety.

The programme covers the management of health & safety in schools, the functions and role of the union appointed health & safety representative, safety inspections, risk assessment, and frequently asked questions on health & safety in schools, such as first aid, visits and administration of medication. A question and answer session is also included. Refreshments throughout the day and a two-course lunch are included.

 

The next course will be held in the Spring term 2010

Venue and date yet to be arranged. The course will be advertised here and through the Cumbria Portal to all schools.

The courses are run by: Bill Muir - Vice-chair of the NUT National Working Party on Health & Safety and Divisional Health & Safety Adviser for both Newcastle and Gateshead Divisions of the NUT. Ann Kay - NUT Divisional Health & Safety Adviser for South Cumbria David Ramshaw - NUT Divisional Health & Safety Adviser for North Cumbria.
