ACADEMIES - WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
To date only SEATON PRIMARY SCHOOL has decided to become a new GOVE academy, although a small number of other schools have indicated an interest in doing so.
If you work in a school that is rumoured to join this new experiment - contact your local union branch secretary.
The issues of local accountability and democracy, the break-up of the local family of schools and the potential break in continuous service for staff are just the headlines on a serious and massive attempt by the new government to continue with the disintegration of LA community schools and encouraging the private sector to make inroads into education and to ultimately make profits for their shareholders.
Mr Gove has already begun discussions with a profit-making education provider to seek ways to introduce their practices into English schools. More information from the anti-academy alliance website:
